I came to the USA as an immigrant in 1956.I was 22 years old. Among the few things I
brought with me were notebooks filled with all sorts of inventions. This one related to a
method of mass production using printed circuit boards ... that had not been invented yet ...

... and this one to a method of capturing colored images for television. In 1950
black and white was hard enough!

     "Outside the box:"
My first encounter with American business was when I got hired by
Westinghouse, in Elmira New York. There I was introduced to the
manufacture of the wonders of my youth -- vacuum tubes. I was shown
even greater miracles in camera tubes such as vidicons and image
orthicons. I fit right in. I became known as an "idea man."
I especially wanted to build the color camera tubes I dreamed of
before I had even seen a real-life black and white TV! Unfortunately
the idea I had about using a light beam to scan the the target
(instead of the traditional electron beam) was deemed impractical.
