Charles is a web developer with over ten years experience in software development in the Aerospace industry using the C/C++ language

. He has a Certificate of Achievement in Web Development, Programming and Scripting from Los Angeles Pierce College. He is proficient in web development using HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and databases such as MySQL. He has been a volunteer with Electronic Communications Committee of the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club for over two years, updating and maintaining various entities in the chapter website including the Southern Sierran, GIS and Water Committees and the Orange County Sierra Singles. He completed an internship with the National Park Service in Thousand Oaks, CA, maintaining park service websites.

GIS Projects

Charles has completed a Certificate of Achievement in Geographic Information Systems also from Los Angeles Pierce College. The cirriculum included classes in GIS concepts, beginning and intermediate Arcview, Cartography, and Spatial Analysis and Modeling. In addition to completing regular course material, a special project was required for each class that involved obtaining spatial data from a source outside of class material and presenting an analysis of the data as a power point presentation. Sierra Club Angeles Chapter Website and GIS Volunteer

Charles has been a volunteer webmaster for several Sierra Club Angeles Chapter entities, including the chapter newsletter, the Southern Sierran, the Orange County Sierra Singles, the GIS committee, the Water committee and the La Cresenta Valley committee. The web sites for these entities were updated monthly. In addition, the Electronics Communications Committee is in the process of redesigning the chapter's web site and Charles plans to be a major contributor to this project.

Charles is a volunteer with the GIS committee and has created maps of the Chatworth Nature Preserve and the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area where Canadian Geese are often sighted during seasonal migrations. These maps will be used by the Canada Goose Count organization.

National Park Service Intern

Charles completed a six month internship with the National Park service in Thousand Oaks, CA. He updated pullout menus for several park service websites, and generated a map of the Brown Ranch, a recently acquired property which was being renovated for use as living quarters for Park Service personnel.
